Future career path...
After having given birth at Markham Stouffville Hospital, I grew a sense of attachment to the staff that helped me through my delivery. Ever since giving birth, I've visited the Emergency Room on numerous occasions with my daughter. We waited a very long time before we were greeted by a emergency room nurse then it was followed by a visit from the doctor. I was given a prescription and was given clear instructions on what steps I should take if her condition worsens and was assured that as long as she continues to drink fluids, she should not get any worse. After so many visits to the ER since her birth, I believe that I should pursue a career in that department.

Technology is on the rise
Due to recent advancements in technology, communication barriers in nursing are slowly disappearing. With the introduction of the use of PDA’s in the nursing profession, it has greatly decreased the amount of time nurses spend documenting and charting manually, thus nurses are able to spend more time with patient’s building a trusting and therapeutic relationship with them. In addition to the PDA assisting nurses in documenting and charting, it also allows nurses to send information to other health care providers in relation to a patient at any given time. As nursing students, we need to be open minded into accepting new technology into our studies in order to be able to provide timely and effective care for our patients.
